Steven M. Sears
Sears is the Chief Market Strategist for StratiFi Technologies which helps financial advisors identify and manage hidden risks in a portfolio. In February 2018, he left Barron’s after contributing for 11 years as Senior Editor and Columnist and releasing “The Indomitable Investor: Why a Few Succeed in the Stock Market When Everyone Else Fails.”
Prior to joining Barron’s, he reported for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal. In addition, he played a key role as a member of exchange executive teams that modernized the U.S. options market and introduced electronic trading. Mr. Sears helped to mainstream options trading and contributed to the institutional acceptance of volatility as an asset class similar to stocks and bonds.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange recognized and honored him with naming the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) as the “fear gauge” that is now universally used to describe VIX. He’s been an industry leader in establishing the VIX as the options market equivalent of the S&P 500 index.
Chicago's FinTech community is brimming with talent and expertise. It is our job to be a resource to take you where you want to go.
